Ubuntu: How To Install The Gnome Shell Desktop Environment

Installation using the official Ubuntu PPA repository

open the terminal with the usual key combination Ctrl+Alt+T and type:

sudo apt-get install gnome-shell

Enable the GNOME Shell (Gnome 3)
